TRIBUTE TO HARRY KALAS ON MEMORIAL DAY, MAY 25, 2009< Back"Voice of the Phillies," Harry Kalas, who resided in Upper Providence, neighboring Media, narrated the Pennsylvania Veterans Museum-produced documentary, "In the Company of Heroes," which recounts the story of World War II's legendary Band of Brothers, the 101st Airborne Screaming Eagles. Kalas served with the U.S. Army, 25th Infantry Division and was a staple of Media Borough's Veterans Day Parade, emceeing the ceremony in front of Delaware County Courthouse each year. Kalas was a committed supporter of the Museum and spoke at the opening. Watch a video of Kalas' remarks at the Museum opening: Kane Kalas, son of Hall of Fame broadcaster and U. S. Army veteran Harry Kalas, will sing "America the Beautiful" and read a poem honoring veterans that was written by his father at Media's Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony on Monday, May 25. The Kalas family has graciously offered to present the Pennsylvania Veterans Museum with the flag which draped Kalas' casket following his untimely death in April.
