In The Company of Heroes: 101st Airborne Screaming Eagles
The Legendary Band of Brothers

Film Summary

“In the Company of Heroes” traces the exploits of the famous “Band of Brothers,” Easy Company, the 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division during WWII in Europe. Through interviews with surviving members of the “Band of Brothers,” including the Commander, Major Dick Winters, and clips from the Emmy Award-winning HBO special of the same name, the training, combat history and story behind how this group of “ordinary soldiers” became “extraordinary” examples of the “Greatest Generation,” is told in a fast-paced, one-hour documentary.

But, perhaps, equally interesting is the relatively unknown “back-story” to how Easy Company rose to such prominence, becoming the legendary “Band of Brothers” of literal and film fame nearly six decades after WWII. Major Winters explains in “In the Company of Heroes” how his personal diaries, sent to author/historian Stephen Ambrose, set into motion a series of events that not only resulted in a best-selling book and a multi-part TV series, but also spawned an Academy Award-winning film, “Saving Private Ryan.”
